Downtown Naperville Sidewalk Sales Are This Weekend!

Downtown Naperville’s Sizzling Summer Sidewalk Sales are happening this Thursday, July 9th through Sunday, July 12th. There will be sale racks outside, special offers throughout downtown, and plenty of reasons to give yourself more than the 20 minutes you originally planned!

Park once, take your time walking around, and finally go into all of the places you keep saying you need to check out.

My mom, Sue (or Susie Q, depending on how fun you are feeling) owns Little Luxuries at 212 S. Main Street, so yes, I am admittedly biased toward this particular weekend. I’ve spent plenty of summers growing up at the store, floating in & out between customers, seeing familiar faces, and watching someone find the exact thing they didn’t know they wanted until it was sitting on a table outside. Little Luxuries will have a lot of really good sale pieces out this year, including home décor, gifts, jewelry, florals, seasonal finds, and plenty of things that will have you mentally rearranging a corner of your own house before you even get home.

My suggestion? Make an afternoon out of it this weekend!

Start at Little Luxuries, obviously. Then wander toward Anderson’s Bookshop, Naper Nuts & Sweets, Two Bostons, Standard Goods, Treasures, Paper Source, Pottery Bayou, or whichever storefront catches your eye first. Downtown has changed a lot over the last couple of years.Barnes & Noble is back on Jackson! Le Macaron is on Jefferson. Pronto Italian Sandwiches, Viceroy, U Sushi Club, Vuori, Free People, FP Movement, and other newer businesses have given people even more reasons to spend time downtown.

And I like that. I like having more places to try, more places to meet friends, more reasons to come in on a random Tuesday or Saturday afternoon.

I also reeeaallllyyyyy hope Downtown Naperville continues making room for the independently owned businesses that give it its actual personality.... The owner-run shops are not interchangeable. They are the places with stories, familiar faces, weirdly specific treasures, and people who have spent years learning what their customers love.

Just a gentle note to whoever has influence over future storefront leases: please keep room for both!

Anywhooo, I have met so many of you through Little Luxuries over the years. Real estate clients, old family friends, people who knew me when I was little, people who know my mom better than they know me, and people who remember downtown before half of these storefronts existed.

That connection is a huge part of why I love working in real estate here. When I’m helping someone think about buying a home in Naperville, we absolutely talk about the practical stuff:

  • property taxes

  • school boundaries

  • commute logistics, the Fifth Avenue train station

  • all the parks,

  • architecture

  • daily traffic patterns

  • and the tiny differences between neighborhoods that do not always show up in a listing description.

But we also talk about routines!

  • Where will you grab coffee on a Saturday morning?

  • Are you hoping to walk to the Riverwalk, the train, school, or a favorite restaurant?

  • Does downtown access matter to you, or would you rather have more yard and a quieter street?

  • Are you actually going to use that “walkable location,” or do you just like knowing it is there?

Those details 1,000% change from person to person, but they dooooo matter! A home search gets much more useful once we can connect a house to the life you are actually trying to live.

So whether you already live here, are new to Naperville, or just need an easy plan for the weekend, come spend a little time downtown. Stop by Little Luxuries, say hi to Susie Q/me, and leave room in your trunk.

Thinking About a Move in Naperville?

Whether you’re just casually starting to look at homes for sale, trying to sort out which Naperville neighborhood would actually fit your day-to-day life, or wondering what selling your home could realistically look like, I am always always always happy to be a resource!

I grew up here, spent years helping my mom at Little Luxuries downtown, and now help buyers and sellers make thoughtful moves throughout Naperville and the Western Suburbs.

I know the market side of it, obviously. But I also know that choosing a home involves much more than price, bedroom count, and a Zillow saved-search alert. It’s about commute patterns. The train. School routines. Parks. Downtown access. Whether a house fits your current life and gives you room for the one you are building next.
